GAU-Radioanalytical joins IAEA ALMERA Network

GAU-Radioanalytical has announced that it has joined the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)  Analytical Laboratories for the Measurement of Environmental Radioactivity (ALMERA) Network.  Part of the University of Southampton, a member of the South West Nuclear Hub, GAU is a long-established and experienced commercial group providing radioanalytical services, consultancy and research support for government, industrial and academic sectors.

ALMERA Network

ALMERA is a world-wide network of laboratories providing reliable and timely determination of radionuclides in the environment. It allows IAEA Member States to ensure global environmental monitoring laboratories can provide reliable and comparable data to support decision making in the field.

This network was established in 1995 and is coordinated by the IAEA Environment Laboratories. As of October 2018, it included 177 laboratories in 89 Member States. Laboratories are nominated by their governments and are expected to provide reliable and timely analysis of environmental samples in the event of an accidental or intentional release of radioactivity.
