Festival of Tomorrow is a action packed exploration of the wonders of science, technology and research to share new discoveries and help choose the future we want to see. Centred in Swindon, the hub of UK research and innovation, we share the knowledge and research which will shape the future of the World.

Discovery Zones - 25th-26th February 

A team of nuclear robotics researchers from the University of Bristol will be exhibiting at the festival, demonstrating a range of drones, ground vehicles and even robot dogs that they use in radioactive environments across the world.

Extreme Robotics – How a Bristol team are using robot dogs to decommission Chernobyl

Thirty-five years after the world’s worst nuclear disaster at Chernobyl - or Chornobyl in Ukrainian - Professor Tom Scott, a nuclear expert at the University of Bristol and Royal Academy research fellow, is using robot dogs to help local scientists decommission the exploded reactor entombed in a decaying “sarcophagus”.

BBC Radio Science Presenter, Roland Pease meets Tom Scott and his team to see how they're using robots to reach places you wouldn't want to go!
