PEMC Industrial Solutions – clean energy

Join the Plymouth Electron Microscopy Centre (PEMC) team, Innovate UK and ZEISS at one of our sector-focused Industrial Solutions events to discover what Electron Microscopy could do for your business.

Supported by Innovate UK, UKRI, ZEISS, the University’s own Research & Innovation team and funded by ERDF, PEMC invites industrial partners old and new to join us for one or more of our Industrial Solutions events on the main University campus, to discover what Electron Microscopy could do for you.

This event series will focus specifically on sectors identified within the UK government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund and priority areas for the HOTSW Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). Companies are warmly invited to join us for any or all of these free events, to learn more about our services, existing collaborations and future opportunities, and how your business could benefit.

Designed to be informative, relevant and useful in terms of practical analysis and future funding opportunities, each event will be brief, but packed with useful information to inspire.

Our Industrial Solutions event on Wednesday 20 November 2019 will focus on the clean energy sector, featuring presentations from some of our industrial partners to demonstrate how Electron Microscopy has been used practically in their companies and sector. There will be an update from the PEMC team and Innovate UK will be providing an essential update on funding and collaboration opportunities.

South West Electron Microscopy 2019

Plymouth Electron Microscopy Centre are hosting the inaugural meeting of the South West Electron Microscopy (SW-EM) group  at the University of Plymouth on 18-19 March 2019.

This two-day meeting will bring together electron microscopy professionals across a wide range of academic subjects, institutions, research groups and facilities, incorporating facility managers, technicians, academics and researchers alike. We already have attendance confirmed from across South West institutions, including the University of Bristol, University of Bath, University of Exeter (including Camborne School of Mines), Cardiff University, Swansea University as well as the University of Plymouth.

SW-EM 2019 will allow each facility or research group to introduce themselves, their equipment, and research, before leading discussion sessions surrounding areas of interest to the wider SW-EM community including funding applications, service contracts and training opportunities. We will have a representative from UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) present to introduce current and future funding opportunities that may be of interest to SW-EM members, including instrumentation and/or facility grants.

In addition, SW-EM 2019 will host multiple networking opportunities, a commercial exhibition, a research poster session aimed at early-career researchers (ECRs), and an evening reception as part of the event.

This event is free to attend for academic delegates, but registration is essential. Please email natasha.stephen@plymouth.ac.uk to register your interest.
