Uranium Science Conference

The University of Bristol invites you to partake in the inaugural Uranium Science conference, being led by the Interface Analysis Centre in the School of Physics.

Uranium Science is a topical conference, providing a platform to encourage and accelerate collaboration within the uranium community. This inaugural conference will be held at the University of Bristol on 21st - 22nd January 2019, and will include discussions along the following themes:

  • Fundamental Science

Condensed matter physics of uranium, devices, and nuclear materials

  • Environmental Science and Forensics 

Provenance, geolocation, and detection

  • Uranium Chemistry and Corrosion 

From fundamental reaction kinetics to bulk materials degradation

  • Nuclear Fuel Behaviour 

Thermal properties, irradiation damage, and fuel-water interface

Abstract Submissions

Submissions are open for submission on each of the above four topics. Contributions for oral and/or poster presentations are invited. Abstracts should be submitted by email to contact@uraniumscience.org by 19th October 2018. Abstracts should be no larger than one A4 page, including images, and should specify whether oral or poster presentation is preferred. A student poster prize of £200 will be awarded.

Conference Dinner

Bristol Museum and Art Gallery will host the conference dinner on the evening of the 21st. A three course meal and wine will be served in the grand Wills Hall, surrounded by the collections of art, nature, and history on display in this beautiful building. There is an additional cost of £40 to attend this unique dinner.
