IAC Conference 2025

This time last week, the South West Nuclear Hub attended the annual Interface Analysis Centre Conference 2025. Led by PhD students to showcase and celebrate the projects taking place across the research group, the IAC conference is a supportive space for ECRs to present their work to their peers and industry representatives.

There was an excellent array of presentations on topics ranging from radiation detection systems to forensic seismology and materials science to policy. Further work was displayed during poster sessions throughout the day. This highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of nuclear science and engineering research taking place at the University of Bristol.

It was also an opportunity for the students to chat with industry reps who showed interest in the real-world applications of the work being discussed, and it was great to see these links being made as the day progressed. A theme throughout the conference was the importance of collaboration and indeed how everyone’s contributions to solving problems in their respective field is part of solving national and global challenges.

Shout out to Will Thomas and Ewan Woodbridge for organising an excellent day! And congratulations to the winners of the presentation prizes, Evie, Hannah, Aimee and Yasmine
